Overview:
SANBS is looking for a dedicated and professional Driver to join its transport team in Roodepoort. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, timeous, and cost-efficient transportation of goods and passengers, while upholding the organisation’s commitment to service excellence and public health.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pre-Trip Procedures:
-Conduct vehicle inspections using the standard Vehicle Inspection Checklist
-Report vehicle irregularities to the Dispatch Controller
-Collect and sign for trip instruction sheets and necessary documentation
-Collect products and ensure safe and secure loading of blood products
-Complete odometer readings and logbooks; refuel vehicles when necessary
2. Transportation of Goods:
-Complete trip sheets accurately and follow all delivery instructions
-Drive in compliance with SANBS regulations and the National Road Traffic Act
-Ensure goods are delivered and received with the appropriate documentation and signatures
-Promote SANBS professionalism in all recipient interactions
-Finalise deliveries and submit all trip-related paperwork to Dispatch Controller
3. Transportation of Passengers (where applicable):
-Collect and transport passengers as scheduled
-Display SANBS Welcome Board when collecting passengers from airports
-Maintain a high standard of customer service and ensure a professional image at all times
-Escort unfamiliar passengers to reception areas and gather feedback where applicable
4. Administrative and Support Duties:
-Answer transport department calls and relay messages
-Assist with cleaning and maintaining vehicles
-Report incidents or accidents immediately and obtain case numbers
-Perform ad hoc tasks and assist technical drivers with clinic setups when required
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 9 (minimum), Grade 12 / Matric preferred
- Valid Code C1 Driver’s Licence with Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
- Minimum 3 years of driving experience
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Completion of Advanced Driver Course (advantageous)
- Strong knowledge of road safety, transport regulations, and customer service
- Flexibility to perform varied duties under pressure
